“For me soccer provides so many emotions, a different feeling every day. I've had the good fortune to take part in major competitions like the Olympics, and winning the World Cup was also unforgettable. We lost in the Olympics and won in the World Cup, and I'll never forget either feeling.” - Ronaldinho

NWU Soccer caters for both male and female participants. We are affiliated with University Sports South Africa (USSA).

Soccer at the NWU quickly sets the record for the most consistent performance at any level of competition they participate in.

One of the success factors for soccer on the Vanderbijlpark Campus is the mutually beneficial relationship with the Kaizer Chiefs Football Club.

Six of the NWU's registered players come from Kaizer Chiefs development structures and also represent the Kaizer Chiefs MDC (MultiChoice Diski Challenge) team.

The main purpose of the NWU Soccer Institute is to develop well-rounded individuals who can be future soccer players, coaches and administrators yet at the same time can pursue an academic programme of their choice.
