NWU Potchefstroom Soccer is based at the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds. The team has a rich history and has top-class facilities used by high-performance athletes. We ensure that our players focus not only on football, but also on their studies, since we are a university team that regards studies as our top priority.
Our goal is to produce professional footballers who are graduates. NWU Potchefstroom Soccer has men’s and women’s teams. The men’s team participates in the USSA Tournament and is in the North West ABC Motsepe League. The women participate in the Varsity Cup, the USSA Tournament and the SAFA Sasol Women’s League. When participating in the ABC Motsepe League and SAFA Sasol Women’s League, the club is registered as the NWU Tawana Football Club.
The team is fortunate to have coaches and staff with good experience. Our players are well managed and receive very good medical attention when needed. The team’s office is located at the High Performance Institute in Potchefstroom (office number 120).

Our aim is to develop players through education and sports. We take pride in our football team and their continuous growth. Our football team makes use of the beautiful soccer fields located on the banks of the Vaal River. We have two men’s teams, Mmabatho fc and the NWU VAAL fc, and one women’s team.
The NWU VAAL men’s team is a powerhouse in the USSA competition and has gone straight on to qualify for the ABC Motsepe League, and continues to make us proud as a campus.
Several players from the football team have represented us in the USSA squad and some players also play for development teams in the PSL.
We pride ourselves on the purple army.
