Situated at an altitude of 1 350 metres, the HPI provides an ideal high-performance environment designed to enhance endurance, strength and overall athletic performance.

The High-Performance Institute of Sport (HPI) at the North-West University’s Potchefstroom Campus in South Africa is a world-class training destination for elite athletes and professional sports teams.

Recognised internationally for sporting excellence, the HPI welcomes more than 2 000 athletes from across the globe each year. The institute played a key role in preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, hosting more than 100 Olympic athletes in the lead-up to the event.

As an officially recognised Hammer Strength training facility, the HPI combines cutting-edge training infrastructure with sport science expertise, recovery services and athlete-focused support. Its comprehensive, all-inclusive approach ensures that athletes have everything they need to train, recover and perform at the highest level.
