The Mahikeng Campus offers excellent sporting facilities which include a soccer institute, swimming pool, outdoor facilities and an indoor sports hall. Both the Soccer Institute and Great Hall have a well equipped gymnasium for circuit and aerobic training.
The great hall also caters for badminton, martial arts, squash, boxing, sport dance, indoor soccer and hockey, volleyball, netball and basketball.
The Campus has three multi-purpose courts, four tennis courts and two basketball courts. In addition there are four soccer fields, a rugby field, a softball and cricket pitch.
The swimming pool is a perfect venue for students to learn to swim as well as to improve their different swimming strokes.
Fanie du Toit Sport grounds
The University has one of the most beautiful and well-equipped sports grounds imaginable. The Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds cover approximately 20 hectares on the banks of the Mooi River, which is within walking distance from the campus. Here you will mainly find the outdoors sporting activities, with eight rugby fields, sixteen tennis courts, four hockey fields, nine all-weather netball courts, three soccer fields, five cricket fields, a softball field, a swimming pool and an athletics track. In the Piet Malan Building there is also an fully equipped gymnasium, one of two on the grounds.

High Performance Institute of Sport
This NWU FNB HPI well-equipped building on the Fanie du Toit Spot grounds houses the School of Biokinetics, Recreation and Sport Science, the Institute for Sports Science and Development and the North-West Sports Academy, the offices of NWU-Puksport and also the NWU-Puk Rugby Institute. The building also contains an extremely advanced gymnasium with a rehabilitation swimming pool and an ice bath.
NWU Sports Village
In collaboration with the FNB High Performance Institute, PUK Sport Bureau and North-West Cricket union, is this the perfect facility for sport groups and training camps. We strive to make it your 'home away from home'. This facility are not only of a high standard, but the location of Potchefstroom (altitude above sea level) makes it the ideal place to present training camps.
The PUK Sports Village is a non-selfcatering facility and consists of:
• 5 Blocks with 16 rooms each
• 2 Conference rooms

PUK McArthur Athletics Stadium
The Puk McArthur Athletics Stadium is situated about 3km from the main grounds and provide good training and competition track for our athletes.

The PUK Hockey Club has two Astro Turf water-based surface hockey fields of an international standard. The fields are located opposite Veritas men’s residence (campus plan no. H1) on the corner of Tom and Gerrit Dekker Streets.
Indoor Sports Centre
Indoor sports are housed in the sports centre in the Hennie Bingle Student Centre. Students also use the well-equipped gymnasium and saunas for recreational purposes.
Vanderbijlpark Campus facilities
The Vanderbijlpark Campus sport facilities include a gymnasium, three soccer and rugby fields, two cricket fields, two hockey fields, two netball courts and a basketball court.
