Cycling
The NWU Cycling Club on the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University (NWU) participates annually in the USSA cycling event over three to four days. This includes a mountain bike (MTB) race. Teams consists of eight male and four female cyclists.
Teams are selected on the basis of the results of SA Cycling races and times and positions achieved, which are also used as preparation for the USSA cycling event.
Cyclists practise on a weekly basis and communicate with each other on availability. CycloDNA in Potchefstroom is responsible for training sessions, assists with races and is equipped to assist with all cycling needs.

Mountain Biking
It is said that mountain biking is a fairly diverse and complex sport. This is an off-road form of cycling. The NWU Vaal MTB Club was started due to the high demand in Vanderbijlpark for a mountain-bike-specific club that caters for all types of riders. They strive to be a club that caters for the whole family, and because of this, they have monthly social braais for club members and potential members.
