Ju-Jitsu

Morganti ju-jitsu is more than a martial art, as most of its athletes would tell you. Compared to other martial arts, ju-jitsu has self-defence and family at its centre, as the team members vow to look out for one another. The NWU Mahikeng Morganti ju-jitsu family is proud of the sport’s Japanese history, which is centred on self-discipline and self-control. The sports code has produced remarkable athletes every year.

The NWU Mahikeng ju-jitsu team has been outstanding in the past few years, and as of 2020 the team has won three provincial and national championships. One of their athletes became world champion at the 2016 World Championships in Brazil. In 2018 one of the athletes qualified to go to the 2018 World Championships in Spain. Eleven medals were won at the 2019 World Championships: seven gold, three silver and one bronze. At the same World Championships, one athlete was named the best fighter at the 2019 World Championships after having won two gold medals.
